“La Fnaque Berbère: a refuge for my memory”

Salma Aimane, 19-year-old student, at the National School of Commerce and Management in Marrakech, engraved by the memory of her ancestors. With a look at the past, she will describe this place that played a sacred role during the independence of Morocco, known by all Marrakchis under the name “La Fnaque Berbère”, it was the first bookstore in Marrakech dating from 1941. Passing through the tourist and economic evolution that has not spared this space to undergo some changes. “Without the Berber Fnaque, the medina would lose some of its soul”, said the Spanish writer, marrakechi of the soul, Juan Goytisolo.
